Are you looking for some fun summertime activities? Whether you want to specifically get away for a little while or explore, camping is a great way to get many activities wrapped into one excursion!

Gear Up

First things first, if you have camped before, this part will be easy! You will want to make sure you let your family know about the camping trip ahead of time, as there are many supplies you will need to bring. You and your partner can compile a list of everything you will need, which will be dependent on the age of your kids, how long you will stay, and how adventurous you plan on being! If it’s a full weekend trip, you may opt to stay somewhere that has flushable toilets close by, or other amenities to make the trip a little easier on everyone.

Pick the Sights

Picking out the campground and area you will be staying at is definitely at the top of your list to do. Again, depending on what you are looking for in terms of amenities, it’s important to double (and sometimes triple!) check the campgrounds to make sure they have what you need, or what you want. You will also want to double check on availability, as spaces can get booked up fast!

Plenty to Do!

Camping is a great experience for your kids as there are many different kinds of activities they can do! Camping in of itself is an experience for them, especially if this is their first camping trip. Being in nature is very cathartic for people, and being able to disconnect is even better. Your kids may disagree at first, but give them enough time in nature and they can truly appreciate it. Especially if you as a family go on a big hike for an hour (or more, depending on how old your kids are!). Being surrounded by trees and wild animals is truly a magical place to be, and your kids will have fun discovering all the flowers and fauna there.

On top of the general beauty of nature, you can pick a camping location that also includes water, so you can go swimming, canoeing, fishing, and more! There is always a ton of things you can do as a family on the water. You can also have a grill near the water and make a day of it, with plenty of snacks! Some campsites may have attractions, too, like ziplining or specific guided trails through specific areas of the park. Happy trails!
