Do your kids feel cooped up in the house due to the cold, winter weather? Then it’s time to switch up your routine, put your coats on, and spend the majority of the day at the library!

World of Possibilities

No matter what your kids enjoy doing, it can be done at the library! If some of your kids don’t enjoy reading, there are computers available to use for either homework, research, or just for fun. There are also quiet areas with tables or couches where they can scroll on their phones or use traditional pen paper to work. If you do have bookworms for kids, then the entire building is their oyster! They can find a stack of books to read later, and even find a book to read while there. You can even use the time to work on schoolwork or continuing their education, even without them realizing through the power of books! Depending on how self-sufficient your children are, you can even find a book and couch for yourself, too!

Activities

Not only is the library filled floor to ceiling with books, there are always activities going on as well. You can pick a day to visit when there’s an activity going on your children may enjoy. There are read-a-longs for younger kids, typically in the late mornings, and other book readings for slightly older children too. There are book readings and book groups for adults, and even teenagers, if you want to come back for yourself! There are also classes on a huge variety of topics, including crafting, writing, sewing, quilting, and much more!

Mixed Media

The library also offers a great selection of mixed media. So, if your kid isn’t a big reader but loves visuals, see if the library has any movies you haven’t watched yet. See if they have any educational videos too, and help include some more educational materials into your child’s day. Libraries also carry video games, so if your kids are always asking for a new game, see what the library offers to give your wallet a break! There are also audiobooks that your kids can try if they don’t enjoy reading, as audiobooks are similar to podcasts. And of course, don’t forget to stock up on video games, audiobooks, and movies for yourself too!

Sense of Wonder

No matter what you choose to do at the library, you’ll help unlock a world of possibilities for your children! Every book is a chance for your child to explore a new world, a new realm, and a new line of thinking!
