It may be hard to believe, but back to school is fast approaching! The days of lounging at the pool and making bonfires will definitely be slowing down, but won’t be gone forever. It’s time to look forward to the next coming months, and make sure you have everything ready to go for your children’s school year.
Checking the Lists
First things first is making sure you have everything gathered that you will need. Most teachers will provide lists for their classes on what materials will be needed for the upcoming school year. These are usually provided early enough so you can take your kids shopping to gather the necessary supplies. Some classes may be more digital than before, so little may be necessary. But for some, the list may be long, with pencils, paper, binders, calculators, and the lot. Make sure you can get the lists as early as possible, and make a list for yourself to stay on top of what you need, especially if each of your children comes to you with a stack of classroom lists!
Sometimes the teachers give out the lists last minute, too, so make sure you are up to date on all the correspondence from your children’s schools. This can help avoid any last minute trips to the store to get supplies when school is the next day!
Prepping Your Kids
Your kids are probably already moping around the house, knowing that school is starting in a few days. Make sure you give them something to do to keep them busy and to get excited for a new school year. Have them prep their backpacks early, or deck out their notebooks with stickers or quotes they like. Have a fun get together with their friends before school starts so they can get pumped and inspired by others for the first day. Have them work as a team to come up with some fun things they want to do or try this coming school year, that are (and not) related to the school. It could be trying out for the track team, or taking a class together that they all are interested, or joining a club outside of school. This can help take the anxiety out of a new school year and replace it with excitement!
