Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and it can be hard figuring out fun activities with your kids. On the one hand, it would be nice to have a peaceful, relaxing bath for example. But on the other hand, your kids need supervision and something to occupy their time. If you want some fun ideas to keep everyone busy until the babysitter arrives, look no further!
Handmade Hour
Every mother always enjoys a nice handmade gift. It is typically cheap to get the supplies, and it is always fun looking at past gifts from when your kids were younger. Depending on the age range of your kids, there are many activities they can all do while creating something magical!
There is always painting or drawing a card or just a picture for you! It’s easy to gather up some paper or construction paper, markers, paints, pens, stickers, and glitter, and then let your kid’s imaginations run wild! You can ask them to draw your favorite animal, or flower, or simply stencil out your name (or just Mom, if they are super young), and then color in the letters. It’s a fun way to let their creative juices flow without a lot of effort on your part! They can also stencil out animals or shapes or flowers and color that way too.
If they are older, they can create little stuffed animals, or scarves, gloves, or a nice hat out of crocheting or knitting. They can also do woodworking or create a song if they are in band classes and want more practice. You just may need a pair of ear buds for the noise!
Bake the Day Away
If your children are a little older and getting interested in cooking, you can always bake something yummy together! It could be your own cake to celebrate the day, or muffins, bread, or cookies! The possibilities are endless! If your children are old enough, you can even set out the decoration supplies and let them decorate the cake or cookies, and then have a reveal during dinner so you can see their handiwork! It’s a great way to spend time together while also having a fun surprise at the end of the day!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the hardworking moms out there!
